Saturday Reflection: February 2nd

eugenie_george_saturday_reflection

There are a ton of books, podcast, and pieces of pop culture that I’m getting into. Welcome to the first Saturday Reflection! Things I’m doing this weekend

Whitney Cummings Comedy Show

One of the gifts that I gave to myself this Quarter was the opportunity to do something fun. My friend Amy and I saw Whitney last night, and she has perfected male/female interactions. I laughed a lot. I got hooked on Whitney by listening to her on the Tim Ferriss Show a couple of years ago. Whitney is helping a lot of type-A women. Is she the real Ms. Maisel? I’m not sure, but I love her book and I love her honesty about co-dependency. I also did a 12 step program for money, so I’m glad to see a Millennial being honest about our flaws and successes.

Soulja Boy

The amount of time that I’ve spent watching Soulja Boy videos is abnormal. If some of y’all have been living under a rock, Soulja Boy is back with a vengeance. I never knew who he was when he was back in his hey day, but I can honestly say that the tech community should work with him. His crew, back in the day was the master at hacking.

MBA stuff: The Art of Managing New Process

In all honesty, I’ve avoided turning in a paper. It’s been three days. It’s a little sad. I only have one more class left. I just need to finish all the coursework in one setting. I can do it!

AUM ( Asset Under Management):

The best thing about having a “flexible” schedule, means I work all the time. Today, I’m working on AUM excel spread sheet for a company. Yikes!

Series 65

The struggle is real with studying for the Series 65. I know that many people have mastered the art of studying. I am just now figuring it out. In a blog post I wrote recently, I talked about taking the Series 65, so I can have more legitimacy as a women of color entering the financial industry. It’s been close to a month, and I am half way through getting through the material. Everyone says that the test doesn’t take that long to study for… The devil is a liar…

A lot of the information is a constant reminder that I have so much to learn before I can give folks money advice. Could I talk about budgeting? All DAY, but can I truly help women of color achieve wealth? Not yet.
