5 Graceful Steps to Enter Back into a 9-5 as an Entrepreneur
One of my favorite creatives is Rekita Nicole Design because not only is she an amazing brand artist, but she taught me the power of a dollar. About a year ago Rekita stated on her Instagram that she was going back into work full time from owning her business because she wanted to purchase a home for her family. She still would do branding, but she would streamline her systems to be more efficient. Rekita taught me that it’s okay to go back into the 9-5 as an Entreprenuer, but have a plan. Here are the steps that I’m going to take to ease my way back into the 9-5 life.
Go on a Vacation
As weird as it may sound, traveling is the best reset. Being able to go outside of your comfort zone not only does it a mental detox but it also is a place to stem new ideas. The ability to reset is not only essential for life, but it is necessary for growth. Leaving your home gives you real life education while boosting up confidence. If I didn’t take a three city trip to London-Paris-Istanbul I would’ve of never started a business. I would’ve never paid off my undergraduate student loans. I wouldn’t of met the love of my life. I wouldn’t of turned my business into a financial planning firm. All of these things take time.
Reflect on the Compound Interest of your Business
If you already have systems in place for your business having a job, gives you the freedom to outsource. Like social media and promoting my book Not Your Average White Guy’s Money Book. Shameless Plug. By next year, 2020, my systems and processes plus outreach is going to hit a positive point. I’ve already accomplished a lot but it’s time to multiply.
Motherhood and the Art of Cozé
Money is dope and so are friendships. I have neglected both of those being a full time entrepreneur. There’s a great book called The Danish Way of Parenting that talks about Hygge and the art of being cozy or Cozé as my friend like to call it. Being an entrepreneur isn’t cozy until you have a certain amount of income, plus I have entered the 3 year mark with being in a relationships with a man with children. They’re great kids, but I can’t live the cheap life if I want to secure the bag in another way. In order to master the art of Cozé I must get a yob😂. Plus I don’t feel comfortable living with him, if I’m not secure financially.
Set up Streams of Income
As a Business Owner, you need a Business Emergency Plan and a Personal Emergency Plan. And as a Black Woman you need a Travel Emergency Plan 😂😂. All that being said, I’m looking at rebuilding my savings account, after investing in my business. I’m looking at least 20,000K for all that to happen.
Find out your numerology year:
The 3 Year
For all my woo woo folks, I’ve looked at the number of years that I’ve been in business, which comes up to year three in numerology. Which is a year of creative reflection. I have publicly stated that I want to create a fin-tech company for women of color. It’s time for me to get clear on what I want that to be, how much capital do I need to raise, and how can I create an affordable financial planning firm that helps folks that are H.E.N.R.Ys and M.E.N.R.Y.s Do I need to work full time for X amount of years?
That’s me in Paris :)
The 3 Year is a simpler and more casual twelve-month cycle in which you must constantly ask yourself: “What do I want?”
Your own long-term happiness and fulfillment are the central issues, and the 3 Year cycle gives you the opportunity to discover, and then create
