The Real Reason why Blogging isn’t Easy
Blogging, it’s a love/hate relationship. The love for blogs happens when you first get an idea. It’s like love at first sight. You start thinking about your life and all the amazing possibilities. You have a job that is unique or different and you start thinking to yourself why isn’t there a blog about this idea? You search on the web to see if there is one, but there isn’t. You come up with a clever name like Ms. Hamilton’s Opus and start blogging. You call it a lifestyle blog, because you want to write about EVERYTHING.
You tell all your friends that you are starting a blog, and everyone is super excited for you. You post your first blog post and 50 people read it. You are super excited. You start write your second blog post tell everyone and only 10 people read it. What the hell happened to all the other people? This is where the small stab in the back sinks in. You’re first piece of FOMO. You start thinking to yourself ‘am I missing something?’ You go to other people’s blogs only to find out that have 1K likes. Damn.
It’s okay put on your big girl panties and tell yourself that next week will be different. After all it is the holidays. You decide to post... 1 viewer. You start thinking I can’t I literally can’t, I quit.
Fear sits in and you start to think that no one likes your ideas and you quit.
Blogging is a car mixed with all different parts. If you don’t understand that it takes a long time to make a car or build it, you will never understand that it’s a long game.
As someone who started their first blog on Blogspot in 2007 to changing blog identities at least 20 different times. I get it, it’s hard, but blogging is your journal. You can say whatever you want and have your own opinion. Most of my blogs have failed, but I’ve learned that jungle gym lesson.
From your first failed attempt you now have the knowledge of failure. You can see the past. Just know that most people take a long time to have 1K followers.
